Biblical Hebrew
Students without previous coursework in Biblical Hebrew are expected to complete 15 hours of Biblical Hebrew study during the MABS program. Students who already possess competence in Biblical Hebrew may have introductory language coursework waived and instead pursue more in-depth Hebrew language study with the approval of the Director of the School of Hebrew and the Academic Dean.

Ministry Mentorship
Every JS degree includes 1 credit hour of ministry mentorship for every semester of the traditional path for that degree.

In-Land Modules
Every MABS student must complete two in-land modules. Each February, students will come to Israel for a two-week course in between the Fall and Spring semesters. These two in-land modules will focus on the land of the Bible, helping to ground the biblical text and the theology of scriptures in its physical context.

Masters Thesis
Every MABS student must complete a thesis paper. The topic of the paper is decided upon in consultation with the student’s advisor and must be submitted to the Academic Dean for approval. The proposed topic for the thesis must be submitted by the middle of their penultimate semester (i.e. the semester preceding the student’s final semester), the fall of their final year. Failure to submit the proposal at the appropriate time will result in a delay in completion of the degree.
