Exploring the World of Midrash: An Introduction for Followers of Yeshua
“And they read from the book, from the law of G-d, clearly; and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading” (Nehemiah 8:8 RSV). Before the time of Ezra and Nehemiah, there were priests, judges, community leaders and parents in Israel who taught the Torah. However, the era of the Second Temple and the return from exile (along with large numbers of Jews living in the Diaspora) was a new world for the Jewish people.

* Registration for the semester is contingent upon a $50 one-time non-refundable registration fee.

Church History I: The First Thousand Years Viewed from Jerusalem
This course will survey the first thousand years of that history, roughly from Jesus to the start of the Crusades, with Jerusalem as its vantage point. Considering the dispersion of the church from Jerusalem in obedience to the great commission as a point of departure, the course will progress into the expansion of Christianity under early apostles, such as Paul, Peter, Mark, and Thomas.
The Land I: Historical Geography and Cultural Settings of the Bible
This course will explore the Land of the Bible: its geography, history, cultural settings and archeology. Specific emphasis will be given to specific passages and terms in the Biblical Hebrew text. Weekly lectures and field trips will illuminate the extra-textual information in the Bible, providing greater contexts for situating the biblical text.
The Old Testament in the New Testament
This course examines the use, interpretation, and theological integration of the Hebrew Scriptures (Tanakh) within the New Testament. From a Judaic perspective, students will explore how Jewish messianic hopes, covenantal themes, prophetic fulfillment, and halakhic concerns shape the narrative and theological landscape of the New Testament.

* Registration for the semester is contingent upon a $50 one-time non-refundable registration fee.

Discovering Jesus in His Jewish Context 2026

When God chose to become one of us, he did so in the specific cultural, social, economic, and political context of first-century Israel. Jesus was Jewish and preached almost exclusively to other Jews. Yet his message spread throughout the ancient world, and continues to do so today. Understanding Jesus’ first-century Jewish context is essential for understanding and applying theology, here and now.

Jerusalem Seminary (JS) courses are engagingly academic and taught by experts in their field. While JS’ courses are not externally accredited, they can be taken for internal JS credit. Any internal JS credit will accrue and at a later time would hopefully, through articulation agreements and accreditation bodies, receive official accreditation; a process that JS has begun.
