If you follow Jerusalem Seminary, you probably do. Not much, mind you, and not everywhere, but nearly every year, the hills of Jerusalem or the peaks of Mount Hermon get a fresh blanket of white.This natural wonder offers us an opportunity to reflect on the themes of purity, sacrifice, and redemption\u2014all beautifully tied to the birth of the Messiah.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-2deb88e elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"2deb88e\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-29c120a\" data-id=\"29c120a\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d6e82da elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d6e82da\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhile we picture Israel as a land of deserts and olive trees, snow has its place in the climate and geography. Jerusalem occasionally wakes up to snow-covered streets, much to the delight of its residents. The sight of snow in the land of the Bible reminds us of God\u2019s control over all creation, from the lush valleys to the icy heights. Snow&#8217;s rarity in Israel makes it feel special\u2014almost miraculous\u2014much like the events surrounding the birth of Yeshua.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-ec2b93a elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"ec2b93a\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-ff90228\" data-id=\"ff90228\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-efc209f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"efc209f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tIn the Bible, \u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05dc\u05b6\u05d2 sheleg (snow) symbolizes purity and spiritual renewal. Isaiah 1:18 proclaims: \u201cThough your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.\u201d This image contrasts the deep stain of sin with the spotless purity that God\u2019s forgiveness provides. King David, in Psalm 51:7, pleads for this very cleansing: \u201cWash me, and I will be whiter than snow.\u201d There\u2019s something universally calming and beautiful about freshly fallen snow, unmarked and pristine, that echoes the promise of a clean slate.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-bad52ed elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"bad52ed\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-f6dd7ee\" data-id=\"f6dd7ee\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0f43868 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0f43868\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThis symbolic purity of snow provides a stark contrast to the bloody rituals of the sacrificial system described in the Torah (the first five books of the Bible). Sin\u2019s gravity required atonement, and atonement was anything but tidy. Altars ran red with the blood of sacrifices\u2014a visceral reminder of sin\u2019s cost. And yet, out of this chaos, God promised a greater hope: a Messiah who would be the ultimate, spotless Lamb.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-ab0898a elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"ab0898a\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-8e2c2f3\" data-id=\"8e2c2f3\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6a46a69 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6a46a69\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tEnter Yeshua (Jesus). Born not in a royal palace but in a humble manger, His arrival was far from \u201cpicture-perfect\u201d by human standards. And yet, in that simplicity lay profound purity. The baby born in Bethlehem would grow to fulfill every requirement of the law, offering Himself as the ultimate sacrifice to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. His purity\u2014untainted by sin\u2014was the key to transforming the messy, bloody reality of sin into the spotless, snow-white promise of redemption.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-ce56805 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"ce56805\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-49c8448\" data-id=\"49c8448\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-476e578 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"476e578\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAs the birth of Yeshua is celebrated in this season around the world, we often picture scenes of snow-draped landscapes, even if Yeshua might have been born on another date and Bethlehem\u2019s winter nights were more likely chilly than snowy. Perhaps this imagery isn\u2019t so far off, though. Snow reminds us of the purity and peace that Yeshua brings into our lives. It also points us to the incredible transformation that He offers\u2014from the scarlet stain of sin to the brilliant white of His righteousness.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-0579e8a elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"0579e8a\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-2807f86\" data-id=\"2807f86\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-23cba81 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"23cba81\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSo, the next time you see snow (or even pictures of it!), let it remind you of God\u2019s power to create beauty from ashes, His promise to cleanse us, and His love in sending His Son. And if you happen to be in Israel and it snows?
